Find answers to common questions on access reviews.
1: How to modify the review scope?
You can modify the review scope by adding or removing applications.
Note: This action is only available for upcoming reviews.
To Add Applications
Go to the Access Review module and open your preferred review. Scroll to the bottom of the review details and timeline, then click Add Application. This allows you to add more applications to the review scope.

Use the filters to search and find your preferred applications. Click the Add Custom App button to add a custom application manually. Add Reviewers, review the information, and click Save.

To Remove Applications
Go to the Access Review module and open your preferred review. Scroll to the Applications table, and click the delete button in the Actions column to remove an application from the review scope.

2: How to cancel a review?
Go to the Access Review module and open your preferred review. Click the three-dot icon at the top right and click Cancel Review. This cancels an upcoming review.
Note: This action is only available for upcoming reviews.

3: Can I extend a review?
Click the three-dot icon in the top-right corner, then click Extend Review. Choose the date up to which you want to extend the review, then click Save. This action is available only for Active and Overdue reviews.

4: Can I delete a review?
You can only delete reviews that are in Draft state. Open the review, click the three-dot icon on the top right of the page, and select Delete Review.

5: What’s the difference between deleting and canceling a review?
Deleting a review removes it from the Access Review module. Note that this is only available for reviews in draft state.
In contrast, canceling a review reverts it to the Draft state. Canceling is only available for upcoming reviews.
6: What are privileged roles?
A privileged role is a special user role within an application that has been marked as having elevated or sensitive permissions. These roles typically have access to critical system functions, sensitive data, or administrative capabilities that require additional oversight and documentation. Once you mark a role as privileged, Scrut will enforce additional compliance requirements. Any changes to access for users in these roles will require you to provide mandatory justifications.
To mark a role as privileged, go to a particular access review and click Add Roles.

7: When do reviews recur?
If you selected a recurring frequency such as monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually during review creation, Scrut will automatically schedule the next instance of the review.
For example:
If a monthly review starts on January 1st, an Upcoming Review for February 1st will be created.
When the January review becomes Active, the system generates another upcoming review for March 1st.
8: How do I find the owner of a review?
Go to People → Access Reviews → Reviews. Open a review to view details like description, start date, due date, and owner. This page also lists the Review Timeline, which provides a visual representation of critical review actions and their corresponding dates.

9: Can I change the owner of a review?
Yes. If the original owner is not available due to team changes or other reasons, you can change the owner by following these steps:
Go to People → Access Reviews → Reviews and open your preferred review.
Note: You can edit the owner for reviews in the Draft, Upcoming, Active, or Overdue statuses.
Click the Owner Field and select a new owner.
10: How to remind reviewers and approvers to complete their pending tasks?
Once a review is in the Active state, click the Send Reminder button to notify reviewers and approvers of their pending actions.

9: My access review is stuck because a reviewer was offboarded. How do I proceed?
If a reviewer is offboarded while an access review is still active, the review cannot be concluded until a new reviewer is assigned. An admin can resolve this in two ways:
Open the affected review and reassign the reviewer directly within the review.
Or, navigate to Settings → Manage Users and reassign all open tasks from the offboarded user to another team member. This is the faster option if the offboarded user was assigned to multiple reviews or tasks.
