Integrate Figma

Prev Next

The Scrut-Figma integration fetches user access data, permissions, and role assignments from your Figma account and sends them to Scrut's Access Review module. This integration enables your organization to maintain comprehensive visibility over user access rights and streamline periodic access reviews for compliance and security.

Prerequisites

Before starting the integration, ensure you have the following permissions for your Figma account:

  • Account Requirements: You need an Organization or Enterprise plan in Figma to fetch the Tenant ID and API key.

  • Access Level: Organization Admin access to Figma

Pro Tip!

We recommend logging into your Figma account before starting the integration to avoid doing so later.

How To Connect Figma With Scrut

Step 1: Fetch the API Key from Figma

  1. Log in to your Figma account and select Admin in the sidebar.

  2. Open Settings, navigate to the Login and provisioning section, and click SCIM provisioning.

  3. Click Generate API token.

  4. Copy the API token value. You'll need to enter it in Scrut in Step 3.

Step 2: Copy Your Figma Tenant ID

  1. Log in to your Figma account and select Admin in the sidebar.

  2. Open Settings, navigate to the Login and provisioning section, and click SAML SSO.

  3. Copy the Tenant ID. You'll need to enter it in Scrut in Step 3.

Step 3: Connect Your Figma Account in Scrut

  1. Sign in to Scrut and click Integrations on the left navigation panel.

  2. Navigate to the Integrations Library tab and choose Project Management Platform in the Categories section.

  3. Scroll to the Figma tile and click Integrate.

  4. On the integration setup page:

    • Paste the API key obtained in Step 1.

    • Paste the tenant ID obtained in Step 2.

  5. Click Submit.

  6. Once authorization is done, you'll see the "Connected Successfully" message and the Connected status indicator.

Synchronization Details

  • Initial Sync: On integration, Scrut will instantly fetch the scan results from your Figma account.

  • Recurring Sync: After the initial scan, Scrut runs the scan once every 24 hours to fetch incremental data.

  • Manual Sync: If required, you can click the Sync Now button on the Figma integration page to initiate a manual sync.

Data Fetched from Figma

Scrut fetches the following access-related data points from Figma:

  • UserID

  • Email

  • First Name

Viewing Figma Data in Scrut

To view the data fetched from your Figma account, you'll need to create an Access Review and include the Figma application in scope. Refer to this guide for step-by-step instructions on creating an access review.

Follow these steps to create a new access review for Figma:

  1. Go to People → Access Review and click Create New.

  2. Enter Review Details: Name, Description, Owner, and Review Days.

  3. In step 2, search for and select Figma in the Applications in Scope.

  4. Select Reviewer and Approver.

  5. Review the details and click Save Review.

From the Access Review page, click Figma to view Figma user details in Scrut.

Troubleshooting

Only SSO-provisioned users appear after sync

After a sync, you may notice that only a small number of users appear in Scrut's Access Review module, while manually added users, direct invitees, and guest users are missing.

This is a limitation of Figma's SCIM API, which the integration uses to fetch user data. The SCIM API only returns users provisioned through an Identity Provider (IdP) via SSO. Users added manually, invited directly, or who are existing guests are not included in SCIM responses.

Heads Up!

This is a Figma platform limitation, not a Scrut configuration issue. Running a manual sync will not resolve it.

To get all your Figma users into Scrut, contact support@scrut.io with the following details:

  • Your Figma plan (Organization or Enterprise)

  • Your Figma Org ID, available in Figma Admin → Settings

The Scrut support team will review your setup and work with you to ensure all users are fetched correctly.
