The Scrut-Xero integration fetches user access data, permissions, and role assignments from your Xero account and sends them to Access Review in Scrut. This integration enables your organization to maintain comprehensive visibility over user access rights and streamline periodic access reviews for compliance and security.

Prerequisites
Before starting the integration, ensure you have the following access and permissions:
Access
You must be a Scrut Admin (or Contributor with access to the Integrations module)
Admin access for your organization’s Xero account
Permissions
Scrut requires read-only access to the following data in Xero:
User Accounts: View name, email, and user profile
Organization Data: View and manage your organization settings

Pro Tip!
We recommend logging into your Xero account before starting the integration to avoid doing so later.
How To Connect Xero With Scrut
Step 1: Navigate to Integrations in Scrut
Sign in to your Scrut account and click Integrations on the left navigation panel.
Go to the Integrations Library tab, and in the Categories section, click Miscellaneous.
Find the Xero tile, and click Integrate.

On the Xero integrations page, click the Connect button at the top right.

Scrut will prompt you to log in to Xero using your credentials if you haven’t already done so.
If you have more than one Xero organization, use the dropdown to select the one you want to connect with Scrut.
Click Allow Access to grant the necessary permissions.

Watch for the Connected Successfully notification message and the Connected status indicator.

Step 2: Configure Integration Scope
Click the Configure Scope button on the top right of the Xero integration page in Scrut.

Choose the resources you want to include in this integration and click Save.

Watch for the Scope Updated Successfully notification message.
Synchronization Details
Initial Sync: Upon completing the integration, Scrut will immediately sync user data from Xero.
Recurring Sync: After this, Scrut performs the sync every 24 hours to fetch incremental data.
Data Fetched from Xero
Scrut fetches the following access-related data points from Xero:
User Name
User Email
User Role
Viewing Xero Data in Scrut
To view the data fetched from your Xero account, you’ll need to create an Access Review (or edit an existing one) and include the Xero application in scope. Refer to this guide for step-by-step instructions on creating an access review.
Follow these steps to create a new access review for Xero:
Go to People → Access Review and click Create New.
Enter Review Details: Name, Description, Owner, and Review Days.
In step 2, search and select Xero in the Applications in Scope.
Select Reviewer and Approver.
Review the details and click Save Review.
From the Access Review page, click Xero to view Xero user details in Scrut.
